Extra Help Clerical Job Guidelines

Office Assistant: performs work such as answering phones, taking messages, filing, sorting and distributing mail, greeting clients, performing routine data entry, proofreading documents. This employee may respond to e-mails, independently craft correspondence and reports, transcribe narrative in final format, screen calls and visitors, personally handle routine problems, schedule appointments using an electronic software program, set up travel arrangements, assist with special event planning, assist with project planning, review or distribute incoming mail, and respond to routine inquiries.

Office Associate: performs either high-level clerical duties or basic accounting/bookkeeping tasks. This employee might perform all of the lower-level duties as well as being able to independently compose correspondence and coordinate projects, meetings, and conferences. In an accounting/bookkeeping capacity, this employee could review, reconcile, or process vouchers and/or purchase orders.

Technical Support: performs specialized functions in the field of information technology. This may require knowledge of Web development, code checking, testing of new or updated equipment, creation of databases, or troubleshooting networks. This employee would typically be able to write programs using applicable languages, test codes, perform problem resolution.

Higher classifications of Extra Help employment are utilized for departmental needs that require considerable skill and/or experience.
