Minimum Qualifications with Specialty Factor:
1. high school graduation or equivalent

2. (A) credit for 60 semester hours of college course work, with a minimum of 30 semester hours in electrical engineering or electronics

or

(B) Associate degree in electronics or radio/television engineering

or

(C) successful completion of a trade or vocational school program in electronics or radio/television engineering lasting two academic years

or

(D) 18 months of experience in radio and television engineering or television engineering

or

(E) any combination of A – D that totals 18 months

NOTE: Certification as a Broadcast Technologist (or higher category of certification) by the Society of Broadcast Engineers can be used to satisfy all the credential requirements of this class, if accepted by the employing institution.

3. Current, demonstrated experience in: • Installing, maintaining, and integrating studio, remote control, digital broadcast computer equipment, and transmitter digital/analog equipment for radio/television, including application of FCC rules and regulations. • Broadcast audio, video, and transport stream IP networking systems. • Broadcast electronic circuit test equipment for troubleshooting digital signals to board and/or component level. • Broadcast proprietary software such as: digital audio delivery systems; digital radio and TV automation systems; radio and TV traffic systems; HDTV PSIP creation systems; digital audio and video networked server systems; digital video switchers; and digital software-controlled terminal gear. Exam Scoring Information:

For this exam, please remember to include all relevant work experience typically including performing installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of a variety of electronic broadcasting equipment and circuitry in support of the operation of radio and/or television stations.
