Minimum Qualifications:
1. Any one or a combination of the following types of preparation:

a. credit for college course work

b. work experience that required environmental health and safety knowledge and skills

that totals 1.0 unit according to the following conversion rates:

60 semester hours (or associate degree) of “a” that included 12 hours in an appropriate science field (such as biology, chemistry, physics, engineering or related field) = 1.0 unit

18 months of “b” = 1.0 unit.

Amounts of education or experience less that those listed above should be converted to decimal equivalents of 1.0 unit and added together when computing combinations of the different types of preparation.

2. Two years of experience as a Environmental Health and Safety Technician I or equivalent in addition to the training/experience required in #1 above

3. Possession of a State of Illinois Class D driver's license

Exam Scoring Information:
The updated online application and all uploaded, relevant documents, such as a resume, college transcripts, and/or staff development course listings, will be used in the calculation of the exam score. These documents must be uploaded by the time you submit your exam request. For this exam, please remember to include all relevant work experience typically including data collection, sample collection, waste collection and transport, on-site waste treatment and disposal activities, routine environmental health and safety assessments in laboratories and other locations, emergency response assistance, records maintenance, and other assistance with the management of environmental health and safety programs.
