Focusing Amidst Distractions
Optimize your brain power and mental agility to maintain focus through disruptions and distractions. By enhancing cognitive functions, you can improve your ability to concentrate and stay productive even in challenging environments.
Identify: Signs Your Employee May Be Struggling Focusing
Distracted thinking is oftentimes a result of being stressed or overwhelmed. In the modern day fast-paced world, it can also be contributed to electronic devices and the expectation to always be “on”. Over time, distracted thinking may lead to impaired performance, reduced productivity, difficulty in decision-making, and lower satisfaction with relationships and well-being.
Be mindful that frequent mistake-making, procrastination, changes in communication, mood changes, or shift in their organizational skills (e.g., cluttered workspace, struggle to keep track of tasks) could be connected to a having a hard time focusing amidst distractions.
Acknowledge: Prompts to Check In With Your Employee
Acknowledging and connecting with someone exhibiting signs of distracted thinking
is crucial for providing effective support. By recognizing their feelings and validating
their experiences, we create a safe space for them to express their needs. This
approach fosters trust and empathy, allowing us to offer meaningful support.
