New employees at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign embark on a comprehensive orientation journey designed to equip them for success. This journey begins with an orientation to benefits, where employees learn about the competitive rewards package offered, including details on health insurance, retirement plans, and additional perks.
As part of this orientation, employees are also introduced to the SURS plan choice webinar, providing crucial information about retirement planning. Following this, new hires engage in an orientation to campus, immersing themselves in the vibrant culture and resources available. Whether they are faculty, graduate assistants, or postdocs, this orientation ensures they feel connected to the community and understand the wealth of opportunities around them.
Finally, the orientation to role/job emphasizes the importance of ongoing support and development from their college/unit. Employees are encouraged to seek out guidance and mentorship to fully realize their potential within their roles, fostering a culture of growth and empowerment throughout their careers at the university.
