Hiring Employees

Guide to a Seamless Hiring

As soon as you or someone in your unit has identified a need to hire, you have determined that there is adequate funding for the position hire, and you have received the appropriate approvals from your unit, college, or Major Administrative Unit (MAU), you may proceed with the formal campus hiring approval process. Please note: there are employee group specific requirements please consult the hiring approval matrix below.

Retiree Rehires

Employees who have retired from the university may be rehired in an academic or civil service capacity in compliance with the State of Illinois Return to Work law, Board of Trustee policy, and campus guidelines. Approval to rehire a retiree must be secured before any further hiring action begins, regardless of the employment category the retiree would be hired into.
